What are the Benefits of Dental Restorations?

Restorations can transform your life by helping you repair damage and treat dental diseases. They prevent dental issues triggered by existing flaws as well as sooth discomfort, such as those arising from cracked or chipped teeth. You can effectively prevent cavities and improve dental function with restorative solutions such as fillings, crowns, and bridges. Periodontal diseases are also essential to address and treat before planning any aesthetic dental procedures. Restorative dental care gives you healthy gums, functional teeth, a beautiful smile, and increased confidence.

Composite Fillings

If your tooth has a cavity, composite fillings can fill the resulting hole to give you a stronger biting surface and strengthen the remaining tooth. At CDA, our fillings are entirely free of metal and amalgam, which makes them safer than traditional fillings that sometimes contain mercury. Composite fillings require less removal of tooth structure, and they provide better aesthetic value. The natural-colored material bonds securely and will last a long time with proper care.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are custom fillings used to restore and strengthen decayed or broken teeth with large cavities that are too small for crowns. They require less removal of enamel during placement, making them more conservative.

Inlays and onlays are manufactured outside your mouth, then fitted into your teeth and bonded into place. Inlays are placed within the center of the tooth to cover the cavity, and onlays, are used when the entire biting surface requires coverage. If you have decaying, broken or fractured teeth, inlays and onlays will restore your chewing ability, make your teeth stronger, and improve your smile.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) has made dental visits more convenient and eliminated the waiting time associated with many restorative procedures. The CEREC system, also known as CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing), makes immediate prosthetics like crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays. Many treatments can be completed in just one visit.

Dr. Landry, who’s an experienced CEREC trainer and speaker on cone beam technology, uses iTero digital imaging to make accurate impressions of your teeth and create perfectly fitted and beautiful CEREC crowns that blend with your natural teeth. Other benefits include:

  • No temporary restorations
  • Highly conservative and less invasive
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Fewer dental visits
  • Long-lasting restorations

Fixed Bridges

Dental bridges are permanent devices made up of a series of crowns that are joined together and used to replace missing teeth. Fixed bridges come in a wide variety, with the most popular being the traditional bridge made of metal and porcelain. These consist of two crowns attached to pontics (false teeth) that go over abutment teeth (anchoring teeth).

Dr. Landry will take you through the various available options and recommend the right bridge for your dental needs. While your fixed bridge may need infrequent repairs due to normal wear and tear, they can last for many years when well taken care of.

When Are Fixed Bridges Used?

Though fixed bridges can replace missing teeth; they also prevent remaining teeth from drifting. Bridges can restore chewing ability and the pronunciation of words, as well as the shape and function of your dental arch. In the event you have a partial denture, fixed bridges replace them as an upgrade to a permanent solution.

Installation of Fixed Bridges

When getting a fixed bridge installed, we numb your gums and prep the two teeth on either side of the open space. Some of your natural enamel will be removed, so the crowns with the pontic will fit in place. If altering healthy teeth doesn’t sit well with you, dental implants are a better alternative. Dental implants are secured directly into the jaw and do not require your natural teeth to be changed.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is usually done when infection or decay has affected the nerve of the tooth. In such cases, the pulp, bacteria, and damaged nerves are removed from inside the tooth. The root is then filled with medicated dental materials, and a custom crown is placed on top to restore the functionality of the tooth. Root canal therapy is the perfect alternative to extraction, which may destabilize adjacent teeth and contribute to future problems.

DaVinci™ Veneers

Veneers provide a quick solution to multiple dental problems. They are thin porcelain shells that are fitted onto teeth to cover dental flaws and blemishes.

Our DaVinci™ Veneers help correct the shape, color, and spacing on teeth to enhance the beauty and appeal of your smile with minimal pain. Other benefits include:

  • Ultra-thin and comfortable
  • Highly resistant to stains
  • Strong and durable
  • Quick results without the need for anesthesia
  • Can be shade-matched to your color preference

What to Expect During Veneer Fitting?

Before DaVinci™ Veneers are fitted, your teeth will be prepped to accommodate the thinness of the material. Impressions of your teeth will then be taken for the manufacturing and customization of your veneers. When ready, the veneers are permanently bonded to your teeth using a light beam to give your teeth a stunning makeover!

LANAP Laser Periodontal Surgery

LANAP laser periodontal surgery is a minimally-invasive gum disease treatment that uses a laser fiber to remove the affected gum tissue and kill any harmful bacteria. Once the infected tissue has been removed, the roots are cleaned using the laser, and the pockets around the tooth are sealed to prevent future infections. LANAP laser surgery treats gum disease without affecting the surrounding areas while promoting soft tissue and bone regeneration around the tooth.

How LANAP Laser Surgery Improves Periodontal Surgery

LANAP laser technology has made periodontal surgery more efficient and more effective. Because it targets only the damaged tissue, the procedure is also minimally invasive and more comfortable. The procedure is shorter, with less bleeding and reduced post-surgery pain. Unlike traditional periodontal surgery, LANAP promotes faster healing time and has zero side-effects such as gum recession or tooth sensitivity.

Other than removing diseased tissue and killing bacteria responsible for causing gum disease, LANAP laser surgery promotes tissue and bone regeneration. The tissue supports surrounding teeth, eliminating the need for extraction or more complex treatments in the future. The regeneration of gum tissue also reduces the chances of future infections, thus giving you a healthier smile for years to come.

Superior Solutions with Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth permanently and safely. They are made of titanium posts and are secured into the jawbone for maximum stability and support. This not only enables you to chew and smile with confidence, but it also prevents bone deterioration that comes with missing teeth. The post simulates your natural tooth root and provides essential stimulation to the jawbone and surrounding tissues. Dental implants feel just like natural teeth and won’t move about when you are eating or talking.

Bone Grafting & Other Implant Solutions

Before a dental implant is put in place, bone grafting is sometimes done to improve the success rate of the procedure. Bone grafting involves placing bone tissue in areas with low or atrophied bone. This step is crucial as it results in a thicker and wider jawbone that's strong enough to support the dental implant. Dr. Landry and team provide implant surgery and restoration for different types of implants including:

  • Single implants - One implant for one tooth
  • Implant Bridges - Bridges supported by implants
  • Dentures - Removable artificial teeth
  • All on 4 - Multiple false teeth supported by four dental implants

Full-Mouth Restoration

A full-mouth restoration is a procedure used to treat and repair a variety of dental problems. Whether you have chipped or cracked teeth, missing teeth, discoloration, gum disease, or even misaligned teeth, a full-mouth restoration will handle all of them. A smile makeover is done more for cosmetic purposes while a full-mouth restoration enhances both the appeal of your smile and your oral health.

Due to the various procedures and treatments involved, a full-mouth restoration may take up to one year to fully complete depending on the issues being fixed.

Expert and meticulous planning is key to the success of full mouth restorations. As such, a thorough examination is first conducted to identify what type of treatment you need. You will then be taken through the available options before scheduling a series of dental visits to complete all the procedures.

Our advanced technology, combined with our skilled dentists Dr. Landry and Dr. Dela Cruz, ensures that you get the best possible treatment to restore your mouth to full functionality, health, and beauty.

Advanced Technology

We pride ourselves in our ability to conduct aesthetic and restorative procedures using cutting-edge technology, which improves our efficiency. Below are just a few of the advanced technologies we use at Consultants in Dental Aesthetics.

CEREC System

The CEREC system, also known as the CAD/CAM machine, makes the creation of ceramic restorations liked bridges, crowns, and veneers much faster. You can now have your restorations made and placed in under two hours with the utmost precision, thanks to the CAD/CAM device.

The use of laser technology in periodontal disease treatment has made it possible to treat and prevent gum disease more comfortably and more effectively. There is less pain, zero side effects, and no trauma to surrounding tissues. It also boosts tissue and bone regeneration which promotes faster healing, prevents future infections and helps support the surrounding teeth.

Panoramic x-rays are extra-oral photographs of the face and mouth conducted to achieve a better view of the mandibular nerve as well as nasal and sinus areas. They are used to show jawbone fractures, cysts, and impacted teeth as well as cavities, gum diseases and to examine gag reflex. Panoramic x-rays involve less radiation and significantly aid in the planning of treatment.

Unlike traditional x-rays that were conducted using a radiogram, digital machines emit less radiation and produce detailed, high-quality images. The X-rays are also easy to download. Digital x-ray machines make it easier and safe to examine aspects of your dental health that may not be visible to the naked eye like tumors, cysts, poor tooth positioning, and even bone loss. With digital x-rays, diagnosis is more accurate and comfortable.

We use iTero digital imaging when taking impressions of your teeth before making restorations like veneers or crowns. It reduces the gag reflex associated with traditional methods and creates accurate 3D images of your teeth and surrounding tissue, which also help during consultation and treatment. There is no radiation involved and the procedure is perfectly safe, comfortable, and accurate.

Sedation Dentistry

The fear of pain and anxiety makes many people dread dental visits. Sedation dentistry offers fearful patients a safe and anxiety-free experience during dental visits. Sedatives reduce stress and make it easy to accomplish more during each dental visit. Since most are taken orally, there’s no pain involved during administration. Nitrous Oxide, also known as ‘laughing gas’ and oral conscious sedation, are both very popular and offer mild, moderate, or deep sedation depending on your needs.

Nitrous Oxide: It is administered through the nose to relieve anxiety, reduce pain, and boost the patient’s mood throughout the procedure. Although you may experience a little tingling or numbness, there are very few side effects to it.

Oral Conscious Sedation: It is administered orally before a dental procedure to dull the senses. Although it keeps you awake during the procedure, you can barely remember the pain, scents, or noises after it’s over.
